The theme for today regarding the Manaiakalani pedagogy was
Ubiquitous - learning anytime, anywhere and any place!
Having the rewindable learning available for all at any time is impacting on student, family and community empowerment.
No more of me looking like this either!!!
Some of the data that was presented, especially around the summer reading journey was really positive and encouraging. The impact that completing 3 blog posts per week has on a students achievement is fantastic. I love the fact that our students here in Tairawhiti are able to access this in the coming summer!

It's been a real wild ride at times undertaking this DFI. I found it quite challenging at times as I'm not using many of the features with my class. All teachers are time poor and finding time to play around hasn't been featuring much in my daily life! However I have gained so much knowledge around the pedagogy and the understanding that lies behind the Manaiakalani initiative. I can make projects to support my students learning and as a team we are now working more collaboratively through the google apps.
I agree with your statement that teachers are time poor. We have to juggle so much some times. The learning at DFI has been helpful and challenging but it has been a pleasure to spend this time learning with you.
ReplyDeleteKia ora Cathy,
ReplyDeleteIt's been a crazy and intense learning curve. I totally agree that doing the DFI has deepened our understanding of the Manaiakalani Programme & it's pedagogy & kaupapa. It's got me excited to get this going really well school wide. It's been a pleasure learning beside you.
It's been lovely spending the last 9 Fridays with you Cathy, and I'm so impressed with what you have achieved with you new entrants!
ReplyDeleteGood one Cathy - although I've never thought that you looked like an angry Samuel L Jackson. I'm hoping someone other than me will be responsible for the summer learning journey. I want to be at the beach!
ReplyDeleteYes, agree. So go that MET will fund a person/persons to comment and engage with learners. The teacher only needs to encourage learners to take part.
DeleteKia ora Cathy,
ReplyDeleteI agree, a wild intensive ride is a good description of DFI. Great to hear of the changes that have happened in your team in using the Google tools as well as what you can do for your learners. I know teachers are time-poor and we need to decide where we put our focus. Do you think keeping a focus on your own learning is a necessity?
Ngā mihi,
Maria
